CLT Internships, Pasta & Provisions & Snow?

If it can snow like this in Alabama, I have hope for CLT
¡THE QC LOCAL!
Charlotte’s a busy place. Here’s the best of it.
🎢 I felt a little like I was in an Indiana Jones movie as our friend Lily guided my roommate and I through the connecting passageways between uptown buildings.
Yes, that’s right. There are connective tunnels between four or 5 buildings in Uptown. Now, normally I don’t mind walking to work. However, with the recent cold front, Lily recently revealed to me somewhat complex path that will take you from the Green all the way to the BofA Corporate Tower to me. Her two crucial pieces of advice to make sure you’re going the right way are “go up both elevators,” and “follow the rainbow walkway.”
I won’t lie, I’m still just hoping there’s people following the trail, so I don’t get lost.
🌹ROSE
Charlotte Bar Bands have been a favorite of mine recently. At Rose on New Years Eve, there was an awesome band with the smoothest bass player of all time who counted us into the new year and played for like 3 hours. Then, this past weekend, Goldie’s had an awesome band with a lead guitarist that could absolutely shred. I always try to, so support local live musicians wherever you can!
🪷BUD
Every year I try to watch most of the Oscar nominations before the ceremony, and usually I’m pretty unsuccessful. However, this year I’m determined to knock out most of them. I’m going to see the new Bob Dylan movie tonight, A Complete Unknown, and really excited to see that because who doesn’t love a good biopic?
DEAL OF THE WEEK
🍕The Family Meal Deal at Capishe. 1 large pizza, 1 large pasta and a large salad for $45! This easily feeds my family and has been a go-to for my family for a long time!
CLT Internships!
‼️Throughout summers while he was in college, my Dad worked as Goofy at Disney World and at various bike shops.
Unfortunately, college culture and the massive presence of LinkedIn has put a massive existential value on getting summer internships between school years.
However, as folks are getting angsty about securing an internship, I’ve found 5 great ones for current college students that are based in Charlotte and have been posted within the last week or so! Hopefully these help!
JLL - Market Planning Summer Internship
Only 10 people have clicked apply so far on LinkedIn!
Reach out to me if you want to network with someone from JLL and I can put you in touch!
Brown and Brown Insurance - Risk Management and Insurance
Great opportunity for those interested getting into the insurance/brokerage sector! Mostly consists of market research and shadowing based on the job description.
UBS - Wealth Planning Internship
This one is higher contested because of the international reach of UBS, but a great opportunity nonetheless in the Wealth Management Sector.
This one just got posted yesterday and has less than 10 people that have clicked apply on LinkedIn!
Dimensional Fund Advisors - Operations Intern
Awesome company and a great, central Charlotte office. Less than 30 people have clicked apply on LinkedIn!
Reach out if you want to network with someone from Dimensional Fund Advisors and I can put you in touch!
(1 of) My Favorite Restaurants
Breakfast in Charlotte is surprisingly hard to come by. I’ll do some of my favorite breakfast items in Charlotte soon, but this has been a staple in my life for the past four years or so. My weekly workout group, F3, are loyal to the Southend Common Market every Saturday morning after we finish our workout for coffee and breakfast. They have everything from breakfast sandwiches to late night munchies, but the Pimp My Bowl takes the cake.
Only available on the weekend, the Pimp My Bowl has cubed potatoes, sausage, tomatoes, spinach, eggs and pimento cheese. Ask for the special sauce to take it over the top. Make sure to check out one of their three locations throughout the city.

Various Common Market Eats
UNDERRATED IN THE 704
If you don’t know what this is, you’re missing out on some of the best meats, sandwiches and frozen meals in Charlotte. You can find them in some stores across town, like Common Market, or at any of their three locations in the city, with one on S. Mint Street, one on Providence Road, and one just past Park Road Shopping Center.
If you need easy frozen meals for a group, or some of the freshest pasta in the city, Pasta and Provisions is a must go to. Their frozen lasagnas never disappoint, and their S. Mint Location serves one of my favorite lunch sandwiches in the city, The Royal.
other goings on 🔥
Duckworth’s Uptown has opened up a Comedy Club that will feature local and national comedians, and opened yesterday, 1/9.
The Charlotte Vintage Market will take place on Sunday 1/12 from 12 to 5pm at Queen Park Social, 4125 Yancey Road with tons of vintage vendors!
St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Dilworth has been my favorite place to sled since I was a kid. Here’s to hoping we get some snow!
