NYE Plans, Haircuts and Sausage Dip

¡THE QC LOCAL!
Charlotte’s a busy place. Here’s the best of it.
🎢 The holidays are always a busy time and never fail to make us reconsider our time management skills. With everything going on this week, I figured that it’d be tough to get a newsletter out this week. However, I then received a text asking for NYE options in Charlotte, so here I am.
Pressed for time coming back into Charlotte on Christmas Eve, I sprinted from the back of my plane to the customs line. While the line wasn’t long, there were several large families in front of me. Sensing the sweat on my brow, the Customs agent waived me in front of the two large families in front of me.
“You from here, James?” asked the agent, after taking my picture.
“Born and bred, Jeremiah,” I responded after noticing his nametag. He smiled and nodded me through without any further hassle. I was able to make our church’s evening service thanks to him.
🌹ROSE
Going off the above, my Rose this holiday season has been our postal and airport workers. I’ve been greeted by nothing other than a smile and a joke by everyone in the airports, despite the holiday rush, and by all of the postal workers making sure that everyone gets their Christmas gifts. Give them a fist bump the next time you see them, because they are the real MVPs of the holidays.
🪷BUD
This past summer, I visited my cousins in San Diego. We surfed, ate burritos and drank Pacifico’s with limes. While their apartment was cozy, my favorite part of their place was their record player, which was always spinning Fleetwood Mac or Rufus Du Soul.
So, when Christmas came around, the only thing on my list was a record player and I can’t wait to break it open. Send me records that I should start adding to the collection.
CHARLOTTE NYE!
‼️Trust me, I’ve parsed through all of Eventbrite. I’ve gone through Instagram, Twitter and surfed the web more than my grandfather when he can’t figure out how to do something. After my thorough research, I’ve come up with 4 of the best things to do for NYE in Charlotte, with really something for everyone, if you feel like celebrating with the city locals.
Family Friendly Fun @ Truist Field
Midnight fireworks, a Champagne toast and one of the last days of the Light the Knight Festival. $10 to get in the door, $25 for included ice skating.
All Inclusive Midnight Rodeo @ Rose Honky Tonk
Tons of drink tickets, snacks, and DJ requests are included with your $120 ticket.
Only $10 and includes a Champagne Toast to ring in the New Year!
One of Charlotte’s favorite local watering holes is far from disappointing this year with no charge at the door until 11 P.M.

Angry Ale’s strikes again!
If you’re celebrating with friends at a neighborhood party, I highly recommend trying the included recipe below.
SAUSAGE DIP RECIPE
At our best friends annual Christmas Party, they have to make three triple batches of their famous Sausage Dip, which has taken on a life of its own within our neighborhood. If you need a recipe that people will ask you for following a party you host, this is it.
The heavenly recipe is as follows:
Brown 1 pound of sausage and drain well. Melt 1 block of cream cheese and 1 can or original Rotel tomatoes (drained) in a saucepan. Add sausage and mic. Transfer to a casserole dish and bake at 350 until hot and bubbly.

My dad keeps reminding me of this, and rightfully so. For at least the past 6 years, our friend, Miranda has been cutting my dad, brother and I’s hair. She’s a one woman show, and only cuts guys hair, but is the literal best. After I was given a terrible European Fade by a barber while I was studying abroad, she was able to fix it with one haircut. Our family often compares Miranda to ‘Jess’ from New Girl because of her relentless positivity. If you’re looking for your next haircut, look no further. Check her out here!
other goings on 🔥
For all the soup lovers out there, Free Range Brewing’s 9th Annual Soup Day starts at 11 A.M. which features FREE soup from top chefs in the city.
For anyone looking for an internship this summer, I stumbled across this cool opening from Tapestry on their ESG team. Check it out here!
If you’ve got the day off tomorrow, Petra’s is hosting Bill Hanna’s Legacy Jazz Session, featuring live jazz musicians for under $10. Check it out here!
